Folks, Katie from Lung Cancer Support Community just e-mailed me that she was unable to leave a comment, and I KNOW she knows how to do that. I tried to log in as her and was unable to leave a comment as her, but I was able to leave a comment on hear behalf when logged in as me. This is bad, not only because I really want Katie to be able to able to contribute any time she has the remote inclination, but because I’d be stunned if she’s the only one unable to leave a comment or start a thread. Two days ago, I received no questions on the forum all day, I think for the first time since I started the site. Maybe I was the model of clarity, maybe nobody had any questions, but I had a sinking suspicion that there might be problem with leaving messages.
If you’re having trouble leaving a comment and/or starting a thread, can you please leave a comment here, or, if that’s not possible, just e-mail me at west@onctalk.com. We’ll try to get on this as soon as possible, but right now I don’t know how pervasive the problem is.

I tried to post a message in response to a member and it didn’t seem to post. I will see what happens in trying to post here.

Okay, everytime I try to send post it says error on page so I cannot respond to any of the posts by other members. I seem to be having no problem under the submit comment here. Hope that helps.

Yeah, that’s what I was just concluding –you’re having the same problem others are.
I just wrote a post just encouraging people to leave questions after my new post. It’s not a great, but it’s a work-around. I’m hopeful that it’ll be fixed soon, but it may be a couple of days. I’ve communicated with my web guy and he’s working on it, but he may need some help.
Sorry for the inconvenience — just leave any comments or questions on this side, for now at least.

Sorry, there was an issue with the submit button for the forums, but it has been fixed now.
The discussion forums are up and running again for everyones usage.

The profile entry/edit window seems to be malfunctioning again. The text doesn’t wrap to the window, and only one line can be entered. When copy-pasting from WordPad, only the first few words get pasted into the edit window.

Thanks, Ned. This has happened more than once before.
I am happy to say that we’re moving to a substantial upgrade of the software, particularly the forum component, and I genuinely believe this will rectify many of these snafus. I have deferred to my tech advisors all along, who basically tell me now that OncTalk is actually stretching the outer limits of what this application can do. But by migrating to a different bulletin board software, it will supposedly (please, oh please) dramatically improve usability and also be more seamless between the post/comment section and the forum component.
I will speak with the tech guys about fixing the profile editing box again, but I think we MAY be able to overhaul and improve the whole system in the very near future.
