Another Valuable Resource on Lung Cancer Worth Knowing About: Lung Cancer Guidebook

I recently received an e-mail from Cindy Langhorne, another member of the lung cancer community who I had met several years ago at a lung cancer meeting.  At that time, she was serving as the Director of the Alliance for Lung Cancer Advocacy, Support, and Education (ALCASE), which ultimately transformed into the current Lung Cancer Alliance, a leading lung cancer group that has been steadily gaining momentum.  She now seres as the Lung Cancer Program Director for the Caring Ambassadors Program, which is an advocacy group dedicated to advocacy, information, and support for the lung cancer community.

She reminded me of a great resource called “With Every Breath: A Lung Cancer Guidebook“, which is a remarkably comprehensive guidebook that covers a huge range of issues for the lung cancer community.  In fact, I was among the expert reviewers for this book several years ago.

 With Every Breath cover

It was written by Dr. Tina St. John, who remains deeply involved with the lung cancer community as Medical Director of the Caring Ambassadors Program after being directly affected when her husband was diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer at age 40.  Like many people here, she has channeled her energies into ways to help people affected by lung cancer, producing a book that covers everything from general principles of cancer and clinical trials to lung cancer treatment to nutrition, complementary medicine, supportive care, and even insurance issues.  While the content is available free on the internet through the link supplied above, you can also order the whole book to keep as a complete book, for just $19.95, through this link.

I’m going to add the Caring Ambassadors Program and this book to my list of helpful resources here.  There’s a huge amount that many members would likely find very valuable, so check it out.
